i am a gatherer and stash-er by nature. one of my greatest pleasures is shopping for Christmas treasures for my family. I begin in September, not planned, its like an internal time clock that says hmmmmm, treasure hunting time! and then i find myself collecting for my favorite holiday of the year. we celebrate few holidays; birthdays, anniversary, thanksgiving and christmas are about it. and i also have 4 special birthdays between Nov and dec which could bring one to a emotionally high stress level...but not me since i plan ahead. each thing I buy or make is picked, thought out and comes from my heart with meaning. I love creating the actual experience of the season, gorgeous packages wrapped, stockings filled and nostalgic smells, feelings and ambiance. I do not participate in the holiday retail flurry and maddness of brown thursday, black friday or whatever saturday or any of the mass sales on things just so i have something to give. and no malls. my goal is to create something simplistic yet magical every year for them and i do it on a budget because i am gathering little by little which also allows me to sit back and enjoy the spirit of the holidays and as a bonus, i can gather things for those in need and not feel pressure to go without in my own family. i would say i am excellent at christmas. however, i will say i do not enjoy hearing any holiday songs at this faze. it just doesnt feel right to me. how do you do christmas?
