i have just had the most wonderful weekend, celebrating life and learning :) on saturday, i got to attend relay for life retreat at camp arnold in eatonville. fantastic day with great people. i learned so much, and i got to speak to the group and share my story. it was pretty special to see so many people working hard to create fantastic events to cure cancer. i got to hear dr matthew shortridge speak about his research on peptides and how he hopes he has found the cure for cancer and he continues to test his theory, every day getting closer and closer to being able to stand up and say, everyone, we never have to worry about this again! matthew is with american cancer society, and your contributions to relay for life help fund matthew and his research. today, my parents and i were part of a huge group of people that packed the pioneer park pavilion to attend a luncheon hosted by my oncologist, dr sibel blau. many of you have heard me say she is no ordinary dr. she is amazing in every sense of the word, and amazing doesnt even begin to adequately describe her. there really are no words. she hosted a celebration of life today and got up on stage, stood before so many of her patients, and thanked us for letting her treat us and for letting her into our hearts and our families. she stood there and told us that she will always fight to find a cure for cancer, to save us. when i look at this past year and all i have lived through, it is in the moments this past weekend where i realize that cancer has brought so much good to my life :)
