i love that most of the people on my news feed are denouncing columbus day as a day worth celebrating, and that people are talking about what a sham the holiday is. a few days ago i posted the illustrated article by The Oatmeal thats been floating around, that suggests we celebrate Bartolome day instead. i did some research and it turns out Bartolome was a BIG TIME racist asshole too. The Oatmeal points out that he freed his Native American slaves. guess what? he ended up trading them in for African ones...
