if youre buying and selling TMNT toys, shouldnt you know the real - TopicsExpress

if youre buying and selling TMNT toys, shouldnt you know the real name of what you want or what you are selling? you are using the internet to sell these things, its also handy for referencing unknown material. Misnaming something just takes longer for the second person to know what you are actually talking about, and in some cases could completely give the wrong impression as to what is available. While this is usually only a minor inconvenience, some proper etiquette for sales should be applied. tmnttoys is a great resource, as im sure are a few other online toy archives. For instance, there are 3 terms being used very loosely in this neck of the trading community, and with a franchise that has had more than 3 successful generations of shows and toys, its necessary to clarify which series you are talking about. For example: the new line of figures from the 2012 show, if referred to as the Nick line, there wont be anybody mistaking it for a previous generation figure. or (as i saw happen) mistake the new Nick line for the Sidewhow Statues.. SMH.. The 1988 cartoon series, those are referred to as Vintage (not Classic), because they are in fact that - Vintage. ive also heard these referred to as the Original line, that makes sense as well. neither of these terms can be (nor should they be by a tmnt fan) mistaken for any of the other generation of toys. the only grey areas here would be imports, like the Super Mutants series (maybe a few others), but should still be considered part of the Vintage line. There are reissues of this line, which are being released alongside the 2012 Nick line, but should be referred to as reissued vintage. The Classics line are a new series, being released at the same time as the 2012 Nick line, but with entirely new sculpts and 34 points of articulation. These are the Classics, and should not be confused with Vintage tmnt figures. The 2003 series is too new to be called Vintage, but is no longer the new line, ive always just referred to it as the 2003 line. this makes sense, and wont get confused with other generations. i will repeat tho, THESE ARE NOT VINTAGE. yet. and therefore should not be referred to as such. all that said, i hope i dont sound aggressive or anything with this post, im just tired of all the needless miscommunication. if you disagree with any of this, please, feel free to delete this post, or add to it in the comments.
