in continuing proof of the stunning lack of imagination in much of the evangelical subculture (the sub for me refers not so much to location as to worth) 90.5, the local Christian station, is playing a version of the twelve days of Christmas which replaces the original opaque symbols that referenced Christ with a mangled garble of explicit references to Christ. E.g. a partridge in a pear tree is replaced with a savior that sets us free. Even art that actually points to Christ is not safe from the whitewashed Pollyanna iconoclasm designed to ensure Christianity is sugared and shrink-wrapped to satisfy suburban consumption.
