As it shrinks, the temperature of the universe will increase tremendously. Finally, at the end, the universe will exist as it was at the beginning: an infinitely small, infinitely dense, and infinitely hot point. Is it a cycle that has gone on infinitely before and will continue infinitely into the future? No one knows.
