it has come to my attention that a couple from Steinbach has been preying on families who need financial assistance. It has been alleged that this couple volunteered to organize a fundraiser to help a family purchase medical equipment for their daughter. They wrote the family a cheque for less than what was raised (charged them taxes, and kept the cash that was donated) - today the cheque bounced, leaving this family feeling used, abused, and taken advantage of. Needless to say the prizes people bought wont be awarded either. The family is in contact with the Steinbach RCMP and in the process of pressing charges. This is important to note because apparently this couple has found a new family from the area to help. So please, folks. NOT everyone has a good heart. Unless the person is well known to you, or part of an organization with a good track record, think very closely about allowing someone to do something like this. My heart breaks for this family, as they recently had a 3rd baby and the equipment they needed to raise money for to help their daughter get around easier, will now not be purchased. Shame on people! BTW - until the RCMP come forward and name said couple, I can not, and will not disclose that information.
