it was 25 years ago next Wednesday when Killing Joke took the stage at the Bayou in Wash DC. The #1 most important concert I ever attended of my life. Other top 10ish ranking entries, Exploited 91 @ 9:30 Club, Black Flag 85 @ 9:30 Club (see a pattern?), Suicidal 2X in 85 @ 9:30, ELP 86 @ Hampton Coliseum, Chrome 98ish @ Otto Bar, Gwar 87ish @ Dominics / Corner, Norfolk VA, Gutwrench (a DC band) @ Elbow Room 89ish, Rollins Band 87 Richmond (their 5th show ever), Kenmores (opening for Rollins Band in 89). Honorable mention, sitting thru Gong & Celtic Frost rehearsals. Gigs by Tidewater bands Otz Chiim, Starving Artists, Thin Lads, Dead Aim, Dissonance (talkin very obscure band that rivaled Dead Aim). More (but not all) honorable mentions....Davis White I was a teen phil collins gig, Stan Ridgway @ 9:30 Club 89 (most packed show there ever, i mean ever), Trouble Funk @ 9:30 91, Sylvain / Nolan in NYC 89 @ continental, Jesus Lizard Norfolk gigs, Tragic Mulatto @ Kings Head, Buttsteak @ Bill Bradshaw Benefit, Embrace / Honor Role @ 9:30.....but anyhow what was I saying? Oh yeah, coming up on 25 years passed by - and the absolute most hungriest band bar none delivered 50 minutes of searing flames in Georgetown.
