just thinking, two weeks ago I was in front of a club giving out flyers. It was really cold, but I was working my flyers. Thomas Faulk Had the good BBQ food, it kept me warm. shhh Vanessa Saez aint know I ate her food too LOL. When I started in music at the age of 14, I did street team work, never had a problem with it, I love doing it why? 1) Research: you see and hear many things. 2) Speak & meet new people: ask random questions(hmm) 3) Figure out numbers: take mental notes of the demograph 4) Make new connections and business 5) Most Important: Give out the flyers (Personal branding) All this information is very important. funny people always ask me to drink when Im working, I wont do it. Im studying & learning. If you look at my resume: Marketing Manager lol With that all being said, I also watch how the djs, producers, industry people move. Its funny when they look down upon you when you hand them a flyer, some even pretend to be to cool and dont take it. shit i even had one ATL DJ throw it on the floor right in front of me on purpose, He tried to play this cool role in front of his friend. Yeah something a electro house dj in atlanta would do lol. Whatever, Thats why he will only play in Atlanta. #POW I do many things, yall already know, Sometimes I cant make it out, but when I do, I gotta get flyers out. Many people think they are to good to give out flyers or even do online promotion. Let me explain something. At this point in soulful, afro, deep etc House Music RIGHT NOW. You need to be promoting in all avenues. STOP pretending to be such a big DJ(Whatever that means), Producer, Promoter, Artist ETC. AINT NOBODY big in this genre. Why, do I say that, the demo-graph is way to small. Its time to grow, stop being big headed. Back to the flyer stuff, Dont ever look down upon other people, or think your bigger then the next man, you never know who that person is handing you the flyer. I can tell you this much, many in the major recording industry, have backgrounds of giving out flyers, Its called earning ya stripes and learning how each demo graph works. Hope i was able to teach you something, have a great weds, heading to take a nap. lol
