kassai-open/en/results The results are in from the Horse Archery championships that were held in Hungary over the weekend. Clearly there was a significant home advantage to the Hungarian team, who mop up the first nine places! Following them was Claus Meyer of Germany and then Lukas Novotny of the USA - well done Lukas! This list of 60 competitors is a whos who of many of the top mounted archers in the world today. Having said that, there are also many more, in the US, in Australia, in South America, in Europe and elsewhere who didnt have the funding/time to get to Hungary for this event but who are world class. Interest in mounted archery is growing worldwide at a phenomenal rate. It is a beautiful and challenging martial art that offers a unique connection with your horse and with your bow. To the mounted archer, both are living things. I have had two weeks with a badly sprained wrist - the result of losing a fight with a particularly ferocious Turkish bow that I was trying to string - which has meant that I could neither haul myself aboard a horse nor shoot a bow. It has been immensely frustrating. However I am happy to report that I did get back on a horse again this morning and had a glorious ride. I hope to be shooting lightweight bows again with in a few days.
