last night I made the mistake of eating too close to bed time and I ended up waking up feeling sick. needless to say, I learned not to eat so much junk before I go to sleep. and that got me to thinking about how we tend to feed our spirits junk that is no good for it. what do I mean by that?, you say. well in this case, the junk represents sin. we tend to feed it to our spirits alot. wether it be lust, greed, selfishness, dishonesty, weve all delved into sinful desires at some point. and the problem is, as it is with sin, when we do that we are immersing, and filling our spirit with garbage. its as if we are taking our spirit and dipping it into a pile of the worst and smelliest garbage there is. and the more we delve into our sinful desires, the more it piles up. it eventually piles up so much, that it begins to weigh us down. everywhere we go we drag it (and the guilt it creates) with us. day in ,and day out, we do. it becomes all we think about. we cant focus, we cant function, it interferes with any form of a real happy life we could have. because as we sin more, and more, it becomes more, and more our world. it becomes our whole lives, moving from one siful desire to another. and it leaves no room for anything else, like real love (not lust),like real kindness (not greed), like real joy, and happiness. it forces all these things out of our lives. and we become this sad, and miserable, person who cant remember life before we got ourselves into the whole mess. the good news is that it doesnt have to stay that way. for the Lord will, and has, rescured us from our sin. Jesus took our sins upon Himself on the cross, and died for them, so we could be free from them. He did it so that we would not be prisoners to sin any longer. He did it so that we wouldnt have to suffer the end results of those sins. He did it so that we could have a new life, free of sin, where we could have hope, love, joy, peace, and happiness. and all we need to do to attain that freedom, is to accept Jesus as our Savior ,and recieve it. when we do, He washes away our sin, He removes the stain of sin from our spirit, and makes it as clean as snow. and He lifts the burden, the guilt, and weight weve been carrying because of it from our hearts, minds, and spirits . He sets us free through His love for us. so, for anyone who still feels the burden of sin, seek out the Lord, cry out for Him, confess your sins, and recieve His Salvation. and watch as your burdens are removed, you are set free, and your spirit comes alive, for the very first time. in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. amen. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.-Romans 6:23 (ESV) 8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.-1 John 1:8-10(ESV) But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.-Galatians 5:16(ESV) And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on his name.’-Acts 22:16(ESV) But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); 9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.-Romans 10:8-10(ESV) For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.-Jeremiah 29:11(NLT) 16 “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. 17 God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.-John 3:16-17(NLT)
