lasttrumpetministries.org/tracts/tract3.html. I am posting this to get a good discussion, both pro and con about the pagan roots of Christmas. That perhaps is even more true when it comes to Easter being related to Ishtar, the pagan fertility goddess in Scripture. Of course THE RESURRECTION OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST is our eternal hope and primary theme of all Christian preaching. I am just wondering, however, how the rest of you deal with these concerns when they come up in our Churches today. I have DEEP love, respect, and appreciation for Messianic Judaism, and many of their leaders raise these concerns. Most likely the Holy Spirit conceived Jesus around the time of Chanukah making His Nativity fall sometime around Sukkot, i. e. The Feast of Tabernacles. That to me seems VERY BIBLICAL, for we know that our Lord was not born on a cold winters night that was so deep, as shepherds do not abide in the fields at tat season of the year, but they do in early fall, i. e. at Sukkot. It also makes sense to me that as Emmauel/Immanuel, our LORD is our Tabernacle that dwells among us. I am thinking more and more that so many of our customs surrounding the Holy Seasons of Nativity and Resurrection are just customs of man that the early Church adopted as an attempt to sanctify pagan festivals. CHARISMA magazine posted a video recently as well of a Baptist pastor who is concerned that Santa Claus is Satan. I am not taking a pro or con viewpoint here at all, but I do want your input concerning you own convictions, practices, and ways you have been led to handle such concerns/objections as these that surface more and more in our contemporary world today. Ill post that video in my only intended RSVP to this post ASAP. Thank you, and God bless us, everyone.
