money creates artificial scarcity.. Greed = Need + Scarcity. We cant take away Need obviously, but we can go a long way towards removing Scarcity. Free the resources, free the technology, educate and free the people. Take away Scarcity and we can take away Greed. Greed is just human nature? Human nature has just one function: to survive. This survival instinct drives all our behaviours. So when we are faced with scarcity, we automatically become greedy, because its good for survival. Today, money is scarce and we need it to live, so we try and get as much as we can. Its a perfectly natural response to a world where people who dont have money die. We live in a system that rewards greedy behaviour. If you are good at competing and getting what you want regardless of the consequences to others, then you are rewarded with a nice house, nice car, and a good quality of life, etc. So the system is ultimately whats at fault, not the people who take advantage of that system. There are very few among us who would not take advantage of any such privileged position for our own personal gain and that of our family, because this is what we are naturally driven to do - to give ourselves the best chance of a good life. If, however, we can change the system to guarantee everyone a good quality of life, stop rewarding greedy behaviour, and educate our children to work and collaborate together for everyones benefit, then the world will be an infinitely better place to live, and greed as we know it will become irrelevant and fade away. Its easy to blame individuals for greedy behaviour, but it is not seeing and understanding the bigger picture. They are simply taking advantage of a greatly flawed system. Greed and Competition are not the result of immutable human temperament...greed and fear of scarcity are in fact being created and amplified...the direct consequence is that we have to fight with each other in order to survive. youtube/watch?v=wPFNHGKfscU
