. . . my Advent offering, Day Twenty . . . something I just learned about this song . . . it was written in 1962 and in the context of the Cuban missile crisis . . . timely now with President Obama restoring diplomatic ties with Cuba . . . and I read somewhere that Pope Francis was an intermediary in the process of U.S. / Cuban talks . . . so everything is interconnected, nest pas? :-) . . . there are many versions of this song, but The Carpenters interpretation stands out for me . . . few voices as heavenly as Karen Carpenters voice was (and her brother, Richard, sings the first verse) . . . and whenever I hear her, I am transported back to that era of pop music and my life . . . Do You Hear What I Hear
