my anti-mining series.. why recycling can replace conventional mining. mine landfills and scrapyards instead. (please copy and paste these comments when/if you share the links..thanks) i have decided others are covering most of the pollution, contamination, and unsustainability arguments against mining.. i will tackle the typical pro-mining talking point.. well, you drive a car dont you? i will argue that we can mine landfills and scapyards with renewable energy.. and recycle our way to a new green economy.. without mining. first observation.. solar energy and electric cars are now possible without rare earth elements that the miners claim can only be obtained from mining. with recent breakthroughs.. a complete electric renewable energy economy including electric cars and rooftop solar panels is on path to be affordable .. and without the use of rare earth elements!!! great news.. it will be built out from recycled metals.. readily available.. the path to low cost nanotech lead batteries.. no rare earth elements needed. this will bring down the cost of electric cars to less than internal combustion cars.
