not really east asian, but i caught the global voices program on PBS last night and thought this would be interesting to discuss. more information is given in the link in the comments, but here is the music video from burmese girl group me n ma girls. my main question: is kpop a regional cultural powerhouse within east/south east asia? or just an extension of american pop? why does this burmese girl group choose to set kpop as an opposite to american pop? are they opposites?? youtube/watch?v=vcNDUfAXTB0
