ok so im gonna have my two pennerth worth on the much hyped boxing match tomorrow night. First of all congratulations to the promoters and sky on making this bout into something it should never have been. (the power of the british media shows its muscle again!) When I first heard this fight may happen my thoughts were that it was the wrong fight for both guys. For Froch at his age it was a thankless fight and at his age and where he is in boxings fraternity it was a waste of much valuable time where surely he only has two possibly three big fights left in him to complete his legacy then this didnt really achieve much But money talks. If he wins everyone will say well he should have won!! Lose and the legacy is severely tarnished. For Groves it was too big a fight too soon and could ruin his climb to the top of british then world boxing a bad loss will put him back a couple of years. But alas here we are and all of a sudden this fight is too close to call! One of the greatest british battles of the modern era? Utter bollocks, this is a mis match of the highest proportions and there is only one winner CARL FROCH. I am proud to say me and my very knowledgeable boxing friend Joseph James Brady have followed Mr Froch since his very early days and always predicted he would reach the heady heights he has achieved and I have admired greatly the way in which he has done it, letting his boxing doing the talking never ducking anyone and all with amazing humility so I have took offence at Grovess ridiculous tactics at trying to rubbish what froch has achieved. Maybe I am being naïve but had he took the softer approach complementing froch and show his gratitude at the amazing opportunity then maybe he wouldnt have got carl so wound up and maybe just maybe froch would have gone into this a little complacent? But no he decided to get an already extremely aggressive fighter even madder. (Great tactics George!!!) Listen i have been dragged into the drama this week as much as anyone but there is a simple truth here and the fact is the gulf between classes here is more evident then ever for me and there is only one result tomorrow night and that is froch ko within 6. Hopefully for Groves he will learn from this and come back stronger and more mature as a boxer. I dont want to see any british boxer fail. But he has brought this beating on his self and thats exactly what he will get. The reason I defend him is to point out that maybe he has been badly advised anyone who cared about Groves and his career should have steered him away from this one (at least for now). Please do not construe this as me dismissing Groves as a fighter he just simply is not ready for a fight of this magnitude. Carl Froch for me is one of the best fighters ever to grace the super middleweight division and I hope he can do the one he needs to do and that is go back in the ring and somehow defeat Andre Ward.... But thats for another discusssion
