okay! Im basically still up from last night (music high in full effect) but before I crash, a few words about last nights show with Stu Allen & Mars Hotel at Terrapin Crossroads! Yes, it was new years! and yes it was sold out! But even that doesnt nearly convey just how fun and right and rocking and celebratory it was - the band was killer : Greg Anton and Jerry Saracini on Drums, Mark Anthony Calderon on Bass/Vocals, Nicholas G. Sandoval on Guitar/Vocals, me on Keys/vocals and of course Stu Allen on Guitar/vocals - the Crew: Bo Putnam, Shauns Wilson Jon Hart Robert Cogswell were amazing (and on it) as always....The terrapin staff were super nice and helpful (many, many cups of coffee) and the Stu Crew was out in full force.....I felt particularly at home in the Grate Room - and the Hammond B3 organ I played was actually the one used by Brent Mydland with the Grateful Dead - those of you who know me well, know that Brent was my favorite organ player and probably the biggest influence on my style (theres some Melvin Seals in there too along with Billy Preston and a LOT of Steve Winwood) I more or less stopped seeing the Dead when Brent died (of an overdose in 1990). So it was a privilege to play his organ (one that I plan to repeat as often as possible) Thank you everyone for an unforgettable year and New Years!
