okay, Im gonna call out an employer for a ridiculous job requirement in their online application. Maybe this is a California thing and not the librarys fault, but check this out: Prequalification Questionnaire Instructions: You must answer these 4 questions before proceeding. 1 of 4) Do you possess a valid, Class C California Drivers License? 2 of 4) Have you graduated from a college or equivalent? 3 of 4) Have you successfully completed a graduate course of study in a professional library school? 4 of 4) Do you have three years of increasingly professional experience in a public library? If you answer no to question 1, it shuts down your application- you may not apply. If you live in a state that isnt California and have that states license, too bad; Daly City doesnt want you as a Librarian III. While I would certainly qualify to get a license after becoming a state resident (I had one when I lived in SF before), this effectively shuts out anyone not from California or any Californian that doesnt have a current license because they use public transit instead of driving. Is it really necessary to have a state license in hand before you start the job? Also, isnt question 2 redundant if theyre asking question 3?
