on Marcus Garvey; Had the black masses been allowed to take this man seriously, we would be a different race of people all together, being taken seriously on Main Street and Wall Street. Having our own business that harness the immense consumer dollar that we frivolously hand over to groups that have no respect for us as humans and just plain hate us. The other black leaders that you mentioned developed a strong jealousy that turned into dislike for Brother Marcus….and for the same reason black leaders began to hate Obama while still a Senator, and running for President. When he would campaign in NY, Al Sharpton, Floyd Flake, Calvin Butts, Charles Rangel and rest of the pseudo leadership here were left hanging waiting for him to kiss their rings and strike up some deals that would boost their stock in the national spotlight just in case he made it t into office...or even if he didnt. But he flew in to town...campaigned and flew out without so much as a phone call. This is the same reasons why W.E.B. Duboise and the other leaders hated Marcus...he eliminated them from his grand scheme and just like almost every other Jamaican man of that age group was stubborn and didnt heed their instruction. This in my opinion was a flaw of his...he did not take suggestions from anyone. As a result J Edgar Hoover was brought in to neutralize his efforts as he did with every other black leader with potential to alter the mentality and advancements of the sons and daughters of slaves. After being jailed, shamed and deported Brother Marcus died of a broken heart...from the same people that he adored and dedicated his life to bring to freedom. I will say it again....a brilliant, brilliant, brilliant man. -Peter Gordon
