He founded and managed the Education Staff Welfare Scheme and the Thimphu Youth Center. He also served in various boards including the Youth Development Fund, Council for Higher Education and the University of Bhutan. He was also the first official to resign from the civil service to take part in politics in 2008 and he was one of the founding members of the PDP. In 2007, when His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo urged the people to come forward to take part in politics and make democracy work, I took it as nothing less than a command to provide my services to the nation. I saw active politics as a continuous process of my contribution in the public service. I see myself as a life-long public servant and the transition from a civil servant to politics was almost seem-less and natural. Served as a Planning Officer in the home ministry and as the Dungtsab in Panbang, Zhemgang, in 1993. Served as Planning Officer in the Planning Commission and as the district administrative officer in Trashigang. Was the Chief Planning Officer at the GNH Commission before being posted as the dzongda in Samtse. Was serving as the Haa Dzongda before resigning to join politics. Health – Chhimi Dorji, 56, Lingmukha-Toedwang, Punakha. Qualification: BEd, Diploma Occupation : Served as the Trongsa Dzongpon before resigning to join politics I have devoted most of my life in teaching school children in secondary schools and seeing the bright faces of young children everyday has always given me immense strength and hope. The last few years of my life I served as Dzongrab in Chhoetse Dzong, Trongsa. Economic – D.N Dhungyel, 44, Phuentshogpelri- Samtse. Qualification: B.Com; M.B.A; Associate Member of All India Management Association Occupation: Served as Private Entrepreneur I did my Pre-University from Paro and went to Sherubtse College in 1987 and completed Bachelors in Commerce in 1992 and Masters in Business Administration (M.B.A) from India and completed in 1994. I have worked in Bhutan Ferro Alloys Limited for eight years and went on to Singapore to work for an International Trading Company for five years. I came back to Bhutan and worked as a consultant in an SME Project for a year and thereafter ventured into the private sector. I started the first Early Learning Center at Phuentsholing in 2006 and thereafter expanded the same to Samtse and Gomtu. Currently, I am staying at Samtse with frequent shuttles between Gomtu and Phuentsholing. I joined the PDP with the confidence that this party has the leadership and the conviction to lead Bhutan. Work and Human Settlement – Dorji Choden, 53. Qualification: MA in Public Administration, Syracuse University, US Experience: Former Commissioner, Anti-Corruption Commission; Bhutan’s First woman Engineer Ministry of Information and Communications – Lekey Dorji,43 Qualification: BSc. in Electrical Engineer, University of Kansas, USA; MSc. in Operational Telecommunications, Coventry University, England Experience: Former civil servant, corporate employee, consultant and entrepreneur Finance – Norbu Wangchuk,44, Qualification: MBA in Marketing from Pune, India; Experience: Former Sr. Lecturer, Royal Institute of Management (RIM); Former Director (Academics), Institute of Management Studies (IMS) Ministry of Agriculture and Forests – Yeshi Dorji,42 , (Master in Biology), Maenbi-Tsaenkhar, Lhuntse.Qualification: Masters in Biology from the University of Missouri, United States. BSc from the University of Philippines, Philippines. Professional experience: Served as the project manager of the National Biodiversity Center; and as the senior planning officer of the Ministry of Agriculture. Was working as a private consultant specialized in natural resource management before joining politics. MInistry of Foreign Affiars – Damcho Dorji, 47, Khateod-Laya. Qualification: B.A Eco., LL.B., PG Dip. International Law, LL.M. Experience: Served as Drangpon of Gelephu, Mongar, Wangdue and Punakha, Director of Office of Legal Affairs (OLA) and the Attorney General before joining politics in 2008 Ministry of Labor and Human Resources – Yogesh Tamang,51, Kilkhorthang-Mendrelgang, Tsirang. Qualification: B A (hons) from Punjab university, Master in Public Administration (MPA) from South California. Education – MingboDrukpa, 61, Dewathang-Gomdar , SamdrupJonkhar Qualification: Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of New Brunswick, Canada. After 27 years of service in the education sector, Served as the Dagana Dzongda for five years and then served as the managing director of the Bhutan Broadcasting Service for four and half years. Resigned in 2007 to take part in the 2008 elections as a PDP candidate. Speaker – Jigme Zangpo, 62. Qualification: Masters in Education, University of New Brunswick Experience: Former Drangpon, High Court; Former Dzongda of Paro and Bumthang Deputy Speaker – Dawa Gyaltshen, 58, Bongo-Chapchha, Chukha (B.Ed/UK)
