#paducah June 8, 2014: Your Monday forecast includes rain and thunderstorm chances. Whether or not we have to deal with additional severe weather is the big question. Heavy downpours will be a good bet...same as recent weeks. A boundary will move back northward over the next 24 hours. Along this boundary additional shower and thunderstorm activity is forecast to form. There will be weak instability on Monday into Monday night. Wind fields are not overly impressive. PWAT values are high. That all boils down to at least a chance for a few heavy thunderstorms and maybe one or two severe storms. Over the past week this boundary has proven to be an efficient focus for heavy rainfall and a few severe thunderstorms. Lets keep an eye on it tomorrow into Wednesday. Monday should bring quite a bit of rain to the region. The rain will continue into Monday night and Tuesday. Locally heavy downpours will be a concern. Lightning and gusty winds, as well. I will keep a close eye on the severe weather threat. Right now it appears marginal. That could change, of course. Temperatures will average near to below normal over the coming days. Cloud cover will help keep temperatures down a bit. Forecast details... Monday - Showers and thunderstorms likely. High temperatures around 74 degrees. East winds at 5-10 mph. Monday night - Showers and thunderstorms likely. Low temperatures in the middle 60s. Southeast winds at 10 mph. Tuesday - Showers and thunderstorms likely. High temperatures in the middle to upper 70s. South/southeast winds at 10-20 mph. Tuesday night - A chance for showers and thunderstorms. Overnight lows will be in the 60s. South winds at 5-10 mph. Wednesday - Scattered thunderstorms possible. High temperatures will be in the upper 70s. South winds at 10-15 mph.
