Muslim is one who submits his will to Allah. All Muslims are brothers and supposed to be well united and panic for each another and like body, if one part hurts the whole body feels panic. At the eve of Hajat-ul- Wida Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) stressed very hard on unity among Muslims and advised the Shaba (RA) for brotherhood and warned against the devil of discrimination. Islam sermonizes in contrast to inequality on the basis of creed, color and caste and calls all Muslims as comrades to each other, nothing but Taqwa makes the difference. Muslims have been ordered to unite and avoid any sort of division. Allah calls all Muslims to be one and hold the rope of Him (i.e. Qur’an) and warns not to create divisions (3:103). But, if we look at ground situation no other sect in the world is as divided as Muslims. Muslims are divided along religious, cultural, racial, political, linguistic, and sectarian lines. Muslims who were directed by Allah to be merciful to each other (Quran, 48:29), but in reality it seems unheard to them. They had been moved far away from the above advised call of the Allah. Furthermore, they are not limited to divisions only but play lethal conspiracies, disrupt and ruthlessly kill each another. Everywhere, Muslims are targeted as threat to peace and every new day comes up with the increased death toll of Muslims. Besides, that Muslims may get united and show strong agitation and protest against such discriminations, it is sad to see Muslim are enjoying their worldly affairs and intentionally don’t pay any heed to the pains of their fellow brothers. It does not stop here they even supplement their powers to non- Muslims to inflict damage and suffering against fellow Muslims. Non-Muslim lobbies are actively operating their missions against Muslims and had set up a focused target to distort Muslim world into ashes. They know Muslims are the only challenge to their devil cause of ruling world. Their mission is widely open to control the economic, social and agriculture resources of the whole Muslim Umma’ah and they have been succeeded at large scale on it. Muslims are being butchered like animals, raped, discriminated, humiliated and tortured in different corners of the world, but Alas! Muslims are napping like a diseased child. At Iqbal’s time Muslims were much more discriminated as now. During his study in Europe he realized that how open enemies that part of the earth are of Muslims. He had a distinct view of Muslim unity and suggested comprehensible strategies to accomplish that cherished goal. Such ideas of him were as much relevant to his times as they are relevant to the existing Muslim world which is characterized by disunity now. He rightly says that………… “Teri dawa na Geneva mein hai, na London mein hai, Farang Ki rag-e-jaan panj-e-yahood mein hai. On present scenario of Muslim Umma’ah Iqbal’s heart must be extremely disturbed, but Alas! Iqbal can’t get back and warn Muslims about such long lasting conspiracies, discriminations, exploitations etc. and preach Muslims the importance of fellowship. Until Muslims would not remove their respective self tags of sects, caste system, language, and race etc. they cannot even dream off desired promised destiny. Iqbal says: “Tum syed bhi ho Mirza bhi ho Afghan bhi ho, tum sabhi kuchh ho batao ki musalman bhi ho" Muslims represent 25% population of the world. They have been gifted by Allah through major share of invaluable resources and most fertile lands of earth. Despite, of that it is ironic that Muslims are still desperately depended on others. Therefore, the utmost need of this umma’ah is to remove all their differences and come on the common platform where they can accumulate their dispersed efforts and strong up their identity. Muslims are one Milat and are supposed to tie together for a common goal set by the Quran and shown by Prophet (PBUH) through his Sunnah. Through their combined efforts they must stand strong with this distinct unity. They should feel proud in priceless inheritance of Islam for which the Muslims have worked hard to preserve over the centuries. Muslims must appreciate this significant heritage as common and indivisible and recognize themselves as members of one Milat and commonly share all ups and downs of Umma’ah as an integral part of the great universal Islamic brotherhood. Iqbal in his unique style says…….. “Milat se rasta ustawar rakh, Paiwasta sajar se umeed-e-bahar rakh” Muslims are already very badly seized with the problem to stand as one Millat and had been cut off from its moorings. They have neglected the Islamic principles and approaches and are in consequent process of disintegration. This lost glory can be regained on a condition of cooperation and steadfastness against the non-muslim conspiracies. Muslims need to be very firm for this goal and strongly hold the Quran and the way of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) “Aaj bhi ho jo Baraheem ka Imaan paida, Aag ker sakti hai andaz-e- gulistan paida” Eastern poet Dr. Allama Iqbal wished Muslim Youth to be separate in attitude, earn self respect and live free without any slavery except Allah. “Parwaz hai dono ki issi aik fiza mein, Kargas ka jahan aur shaheen ka jahan aur……. Alfaz-o-maani mein tafawat nahi lekin, Mullah ki azaan aur mujahid ki azaan aur” No doubt Muslims have progressed along non-muslims in worldly affairs and set up an impressive figure of Muslim organizations, mosques, institutions etc. better than ever before. All Muslim organizations claim working for the unity and revival of Umma’ah but in reality the picture does not seem to be sorted out. The actual disease lies within our hearts and hence, if cure will not begin there, it can’t be removed any longer. Iqbal says: “jo main sarb-a-sajda hua kabhi to zamin se ane lagi sada, tera dil to hai sanam-aashina tujhe kya milega namaz mein” He further goes……….. “Buton se Tujh Ko Umeed Khuda Se Na Umeedi, Mujhe bata tu sahi kafiri kya hai” Come on my brothers, let us pray to Allah to unite Muslims towards the enlighten destiny of Islam and not let it be the responsibility of others only. Before it would be too late let us take firm pledge to play our part towards much needed unity among Muslims. It is Allah’s promise that if we do that, then we will regain our dignity, power, and glory (24:55). Iqbal in his God given style says………. “Azayim ko seeno main baydaar kar dey, Nigha-e-Musalman ko Talwar kar dey” At the end, I shall just say that: “Daagh-e-Sajood agar teri paishani pe hua to kya kiya, Koi Aesa Sajda be kar k zameen par nishan reh jaye” Author is Assistant Professor Department of Tourism Studies, Central University of Kashmir.
