project MAYA has joined The Frack Free Food Alliance! They say: Project Maya fully opposes the use of hydraulic fracturing. Fracking fundamentally places corporate wealth before the health of our ecosystems and therefore our human populations. Evidence suggests the practice of fracking will accelerate climate change and increase dependency on fossil fuels, at a time when we should be looking toward renewable forms of energy. Fracking poses a significant threat to our food systems, not least due to its significant use of precious water resources, and the contamination of land, air and water surrounding frack sites. As yet there are no long-term studies to verify the safety of fracking for humans and animals and recent evidence emerging from Cornell University has shown links between increased livestock deaths and illness from farms adjacent to fracking sites.
