raise the tax allowance so the lower paid get a bit more comfortable, increase income tax by a couple of pence, join social security to the tax office as a means of only having one money collecting department (thats a big saving in infrastructure and staff) no cap on social security (how much would that raise on its own?)- how much would 1p on income tax generate? how much added work would it be to add anything to the tax, nothing! would it need to increase 3p 4p 5p? surely thats a better way of looking at it? - in the grand scheme 2p or 3p per 100 is not a lot more out of anyones wages - GST will cost guernsey businesses more to admin and only make the poorer, poorer - GST/VAT, whatever you want to call it, is TOTALLY TOTALLY the wrong thing to do!
