reply from a Fukushima group on this > I feel bad for peopel who call Hawaii home, but even if not one spec of fallout lands on Hawaii, it is in the middle of the tsunami debris field heading towards us, nothing ate the dead corpses in that debris because the radiation killed those thinsg if they tried, when the ocean dies and lacks oxygen production, everything but mammals (whales and dolphins) immediately die. ANY island nation could risk thin air and higher quanities of methane and CO2 etc. The US/Canadian West Coast doesnt look good to me eitehr, they can survive but they need to survive and change their habits, do not eat from or play in the Pacific Ocean. That is what will make island life pretty miserable. pretty hard for someone to leave their native home due to an invisible foe that no one will admit is a risk or compensate them for losses, that is a choice they have to make based on their age, health, happiness, wealth, etc. but I would suggest carefully choosing where they would relocate to, and not delaying that decision too long. I know people talking about Paraguay, I dont think I could go that extreme even if I could afford it. But I will try not to eat anything from west of the Rockies from now on.
