rgj...I had the honor of meeting Mr Vivian in St. Augustine, FL and hearing him speak- congratulations sir!!...rgj C.T. Vivian received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama this week. He was a Freedom Fighter and worked with Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to fight segregation in the South during the Civil Rights Movement. During the ceremony, Bayard Rustin was posthumously awarded the Medal by President Obama. He is noted as one of the architects of the historical March on Washington, which is commemorating its 50th Anniversary this year. President Bill Clinton and Oprah Winfrey were also among the 16 recipients of the Nation’s highest civilian honor.
