#rugbyleague #youthdevelopment #creatingmonsters #rugby I spoke earlier this week about using single leg squats and single leg box squats to help assess and train lower limb control, stability and mobility. As a progression, or to help increase the specificity of the movement, try adding resistance to help improve external rotation and abduction of the thigh during the squat. Its a great way to develop the correct movement pattern during the squat, and if done correctly (hips, knees, ankle and toes aligned) will indirectly improve ankle mobility. Heres a video of one of my younger athletes demonstrating the drill. He still needs a little work on this and will therefore be using this in his warm up over the next few weeks, however, the improvements made to his single leg squat have been impressive. #cheshirebarbell #cheshire #squats #weightlifting #olympicweightlifting
