sfda.gov.sa/ar/food/news/Pages/foodnews25-0513a1.aspx The General Authority for Food and Drug Administration sampled a number of different batches of bottled drinking water to determine their compliance with GSO No. (1025/2009 bottled drinking water) which sets the maximum rate permitted for bromate as 10 parts per billion (ppb). The results of laboratory analysis of water samples from Umrah in Makkah plant sizes 4, 5 and 6 gallons, produced by the company branch Pilgrimage Water Factory Limited in Makkah exceeds 10 ppb. The Commission recommends consumers avoid the consumption of this product. Note that the Commission has contacted the relevant authorities to take the necessary action towards obliging the factory to withdraw its products from local markets and stop the production lines of the packages mentioned above due to exceeding the limits allowed for the material (bromate) set forth in the specification Gulf standard for bottled drinking water referred to above. The Commission will continue to monitor the factories producing bottled drinking water and monitoring of all bottled drinking water products traded in local markets and take necessary actions against offending factories for the Gulf specification referred to. With the wishes of the all-time health and wellness.
