so in an attempt to make this boring, stale format fun again (lets face it, next format is the same as this one) i wanted to not only make a new competitive deck, but also wanted to make one that is halfway interesting and unexpected. i batted around a couple of ideas, Glad beasts, cause theyre getting new support, although, with Bestiari at 1, the deck is still slow and underwhelming. i thought about wind-ups, i decided against it because, well, they just cant stand up to decks today. so naturally i fell back on a deck that i liked, but put down. Box of Friends. a card that was hyped beyond belief before it came out, then when it did it was regarded as an inferior rabbit. my original build of BOF topped me a local, and gave a good amount of laughs and amusement at a couple other. so this time around i decided to make the deck a little more interesting, originally, i had not built a side deck. this time? the side deck is half fun! my main deck is pretty much the same as it was last time, a couple tech swaps here and there. when it comes to game 2, win or lose i side, and i side heavily, 13 cards. i side out, BOF, ZB, Creature swaps, upstarts, BOM, and COTHs. this is no longer a BOF deck, i side in, Gene Warpeds, Alexandrite dragons, Macro, D fissure, Shrink, Skill Drain, and Vanitys. after siding, my BOF deck becomes a Vanilla beat down deck. i believe that this format, vanilla beatdown is the best anti meta deck. it does not need graveyard control, so banishing everything doesnt matter. banishing everything hurts pretty much everything else though, books, fire fist, any type of E-drag based deck, and most of all, sylvans. Skill drain can cripple decks, Geargia, Fire fist, and sylvans. no special summoning? a well placed vantys can end games. and best part of all? if someone sides against me game 2, they just sided against a deck Im not playing. soul drain? useless. comments and questions and feedback appreciated
