so much has been said about d upcoming valentines day elections, abt the parties and the two major contenders for the seat of the presidency for at least the next four years... i must start my short piece by saying that i am disappointed at d top candidates that Nigeria has produced holding that she can do better... Now that that has been said, i want to give to Reasons, salient if u may why General Buhari shouldnt ever run for the office of the president of Nigeria, and since he decided to, why he wouldnt get my vote. first and most importantly is that genera Buhari by a military coup seized the seat of government from a democratically elected civilian president and ruled by sheer force and illegitimately until his rule also was eventually cut short by another... The intent of this point is not to lecture on history, bt rather to state that history is d mirror that future choices should be guided by... why should a man who has been recorded to destroy Nigerias democracy ask that he be democratically elected and since he has, why should i vote him? secondly and a little bit funny is his educational qualification. its funny firstly bcos its nt d fault of the good General bt rather d draftsman of the Nigerian constitution. if in the 21st century d laws still provide that ssce is d minimum qualification for the office of the president, den how can we be progressive... lookin at d international community, wat progressive country has just a high school leaver as the president... secondly and probably more funny is d notion that he probably doesnt hav said qualification. A country of abt 165 million pple to be led and represented by a person who may or may not hav an ssce? at dis present day and age?... And i hav heard pple say n foolishly too in my opinion that even if GMB presents a Nepa Bill as his certificate, dey would still vote for him... i respect their choice even though i think its foolish, bt do not ask me to share such sentiments. i do not knw who i will vote for nxt month, i however knw who will not get my vote... if GMB gets to become president, at least it will not b wit my vote.
