so took my students to Junior College today on an outing. I hadnt set foot there in 13 years almost to the day and it felt like being sucked by a time warp. Somehow the foyer looked smaller than I remember it but aside from a few new additions I had to resist my feets urge to walk off to Art class in a studio that still looks pretty much identical ( Fabrizio Ellul!!!!) and sit by the canteen window in our spot with the gang (Maria Maria Muscat, Eliza Galea!) and which still reeks of reheated pastries in the exact same way it did then. It then dawned on me, however, that Im almost twice as old as all the young men and women sauntering by and I suddenly felt.... hm, not old..... but just so far off from where that 17 year old envisaged herself to be more than a decade ahead as she bounced off down the steps without a care in the world. Ah, time, you cheeky thing! :)
