When that number of individuals reaches critical mass, betting syndicates will see SA betting as a new and lucrative addition to their markets. Once betting syndicates come in we might as well kiss goodbye clean results in the game. They have perfected the art of worming their way into leagues, club offices, players homes, coaches, players changerooms, referees changerooms and even those who appoint referees. Whilst the millions of individuals vote with their hearts for a big strong PSL team to win against a village team, say in the Nedbank Cup which pits professional and amature teams, the syndicate will bet huge sums of money that the small team will win. They then do all their sinister work behind the scenes for certain key players to be injured, for others not to be selected by the coach, for the right referee to be appointed. I hope that by the time they see us as a target market we already have measures in place to crowd them out of operation. Ask Fifa how these people operate.
