some time back, I was standing underneath the Eiffel Tower attempting to speak French with 3 police officers. They were really kind to me given the fact that, in general, the French do not care for Americans. Partly because, the Yanks who can afford to go over there, dont make an effort to fit in and be quieter. I told them I was sorry I was American - the reason my French was crap. They got such a kick out of the joke. :) I wish America as a whole had a better understanding that we are a French origin nation and not so much a British one. Maybe because of the language barrier it slipped our minds along the way. #statueofliberty
