sometimes when we move from old models of math to new it is the nature of humanity that was not plugged into the equation. Now a hybrid of global transportation by health workers returning home, and other individuals spreading the virus to people in airports where people then travel globally and influenza /ebola/sars or maybe a slower moving but none the less hazardous virus. It used to be self limiting because infected people were unable to travel out of the remote villages and into high population centers then onto global destinations before they are fully symptomatic or dead.
