strong showing of arts service orgs and artists at todays public hearing for the proposed comprehensive cultural plan. so inspired by and grateful for my amazing colleagues! got to harness my inner toby ziegler (lets be honest) and testify. feeling empowered by pubic service and hopeful for the process to create an inclusive, democratic, well-funded plan that matches entrepreneurial drive and artistic production with increased development opportunities for arts and artist-run spaces. also, to echo the inspiring testimony of Caron Atlas and Anusha Venkataraman in particular, i too hope the process to create this plan addresses inequality from the outset through inclusive outreach and an emphasis on critical differences in capacity, and the effects that a lack of capacity can have on artistic production across disciplines, despite the amazing talent, vision and motivation of artists. shout outs to Daniel Arnow, Max Dana, Andy Horwitz, Di Glazer, and Lucien Zayan for support and feedback in preparation for and during my testimony. you can catch it all on video here, and i believe written testimony will eventually be available to download. but youll want to double check the latter.
