theguardian/science/2010/apr/30/stephen-hawking-right-aliens It is interesting to note that Steve Hawkins thinks that contact with extra terrestrial life will be akin to Columbus interacting with the Native Americans. Hawkins might be a renowned physicists studying the cosmos, but his view on cultural interaction is moulded on the style of British imperialism, which has always been narrow, sectarian and bigoted. What if he were to mould it on Indian civilisation and their interactions with Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, China, Thailand and Cambodia? If that is the case, bring on the aliens :)
