..there is a part of Central Park that has been named Strawberry Fields. in my New York days, my friend Stevens brother came in from Connecticut, and when we walked through it, he went nuts-said oh my god and got down on his back and did grass angels on the lawn. I didnt get it. I waited tables at Tavern on the Green, a great restaurant in Central Park. I served Yoko Ono and her friends. I was so nervous-I had a hard time serving her food. she put her hand on my arm and said, dont worry..nobodys died here. I didnt get it. a friend of mine actually made a huge 15 foot guitar for him and Yokos New York office, and told me stories about him, and how he and Yoko used to pull tricks on Paul and his wife Linda- like getting them arrested in Japan when they were there the same time they were for having large amounts of marijuana- which created the song Band on the Run. and Paul and Linda getting them busted right back at an airport leaving Japan-and that became the song The Ballad of John and Yoko. still, I didnt get it. now, 30 something years after his being taken down and studying his crazy wonderful life.. I get it. what would this world be if he never was in it? Happy Birthday, remembered, to our John Lennon
