things have sure change....back when we were children... we were never called kids....it was children....what i am getting at is Christmas... we were always told about Santa Claus... but never did Ctristmas start in November... christmas Eve Morning the tree went up... no flashing lights... just a tree with a few decorations, mainly ballons... christmas cards and a few blubs if you was fortune enough to have some... i will always remember my grandmother Emma Ann.. christmas tree it would be in the corner above her couch .. attach to a wooden strip.. the tree itself about 3 feet high..very few decorations... but it was christmas and christmas eve night, grandmother and grandfather would come out to our house with their gifts wrap in green and red issue tied witth christmas line..., they bring their gifts out in a big straw basket... we always had a gift for christmas.. just one gift most times... mom and dad every christmas eve would go down to the store.. most time on horse and sleigh.. to pick up our christmas gifts.. no red thursday or black friday....but our high light of Christmas was boxing day when uncle Fred and aunt Dorthy Bown .. would come to vist bringing gifts. candies and apples...friends these are memorie i cherish forever,,, didn,t get up and go to shopping center at 4 am... because it was black friday.. we were happy with little and eager to enjoy our one or two little gifts,,, then of course it was either hot perppermint or purity syrup and cake with a bit of cheese for the visitors.. christmas started dec24--ended jan 6...it was an enjoyable time for sure....lets keep Christmas and do away with Happy Holidays
