this is for my explorer friends.... what were your 5 favorite buildings youve been in, they can still be there or demolished.... mine are, in order.... 1. the wayne county child development center aka wayne county training school, aka the (original) northville tunnels. started there in 81, and it was demolished in 99. this was the first place i ever took my wife, and were still together 21.5 years later. northville-tunnels. 2. northville regional psychiatrist hospital. started there when most of it was closed, 02-03. i dont go back cuz ive seen the entire place, i cant run from cops anymore, and all the cops in that town know me now. it still stands (but theyre moving forward in demo, building by building. theyve knocked down 2, and have their sights set on the 3rd). nrph.net 3. ypsi state hospital. i dont remember the dates, but we had a SOLID year in there at least. half the place was abandoned and abated when we started, so we stuck to that half. then one day, the move was complete and we got into the part that had been abandoned a day before. we found master keys and partied there almost every weekend. even watched tv (they left the power on and left everything behind). this place has been demolished. 4. the david broderick tower in detroit. when we first got in, it was the tallest abandoned building i could find on record. we used to LOVE to get on the roof and watch the tigers play, and concerts in comerica park. we spent a LOT of time here. its remodeled now. 5. hudson state hospital. only had a weekend here, but my god, it was an awesome weekend! we had a blast there, till some hippy called the cops. even then it was kind of fun to split off from the group and watch them drive off in their cars while the cops were 50 feet away from me. i was in the woods and they couldnt see me. after i figured they werent going anywhere, i ditched everything illegal and belly crawled from the train tracks to the fence surrounding the home depot. i call 2 separate to pick my up at the gas station on the corner. i hadda rambo thru those woods, falling several times (it rained all weekend), and just when i hopped the fence, my 2 get away cars pulled up at the same time lol. i jumped in the one heading back to the campsite. the campsite had padlocked the gate (i guess you cant come or go after a certain time), no worries though. my friends cuz the lock, we slept it off and headed for byberry in philly. hudson was litl on fire a year after we were there, butmost is still standing as far as i know. honorable mention: the packard plant. this would have ranked higher five years ago. it was a land of lawlessness and we could, and did, get away with everything from wrecking abandoned cars to throwing bashes for up to like 40-50 people. its guarded now, and supposedly under renovations (ill believe that when i see it.
