this photo reminds me of a daily ritual I observed in nearly every country I have traveled ....we travelers would always find a place to sit and watch the sunset...and this was usually done as a group because we all somehow knew the best place from which to enjoy the view. Ive watched the sunset from ocean beaches, the shores of volcanic lakes, mountain tops, rocky bluffs with views of rivers or valleys...and a grove of coconut trees high above the oceans edge. one of my favorite spots was on the highest hill top in Hampi, India. The spot was a large smooth, rocky overlook with a view of a holy river winding through rice patties and a magical, boulder strewn terrain. The locals were quick to notice opportunity, so before we new it, we were greeted each night by a chai vendor (or two) who would walk amongst the gathering of tourists and sell us small glass glasses of fresh hot chai. Wed sip the spicy liquid as we sat on the smooth warm rocks, heated from the days sunshine. Silently wed watch the sun paint the days end with rich, warm colors. Every day was equally awesome...every sunset was a timeless experience of the infinite Divine. Once the sun slipped past the horizon we would finish our chai and the vendor would quietly gather up his supply of glasses... then, filled with peace and gratitude for having spent another day in paradise, we would slowly walk back down the hill...and go our separate ways....until the next sunset, wherever it may be.
