time to speak up against that anti-black racism in your indigenous community. its covert. its not going to be people saying they want black people to be harmed (most of the time anyhow), its going to come in the form of agreement with the white supremacist medias portrayal of the genocide of african american people, as though african american people are responsible for being murdered by white police officers. its going to come in the form of appropriation of african culture through its introduction to ours because of assimilation into american colonial culture. its going to come in the form of light skinned indigenous people exploiting passing privilege based off of the oppression and genocide of their own people, as well as african people. racism from indigenous people towards black people is intentionally engineered by white colonizers. POC vs POC oppression is one of the goals of white supremacy. if we want american POC to be accountable for their colonization and occupation of our lands, and accountable for financing of the band councils that commit genocide against our nations, then we need to be accountable for our transgressions against them, and our privileges within a complex intersecting web of power dynamics. white people are not going to save us from white people. if we are going to be saved we will do it ourselves. we have to be accountable for our own actions.
