to GREATLAKES The ADA National Network (adata.org) is pleased to announce the availability of an upcoming webinar session that will focus on the issues surrounding veterans and the use of service animals. The details follow: Title: Veterans and Service Animals Date: November 12, 2013 Time: 2:30pm – 4:00pm EST (calculate the start time based on the time zone you reside in) Presenter: Miranda Levy, Northwest ADA Center About the Presenter: Miranda joined Northwest ADA Center as an intern in July of 2008 and became an official full-time employee in January of 2009. As a training and information specialist, Miranda provides answers to questions about accessibility, employment and reasonable accommodation, transportation, and service animals with regards to the ADA. Miranda assists in creating marketing and educational materials for Northwest ADA Center. She provides training and information on such topics as Service Animals and Travel; Disability Language and Etiquette; Reasonable Accommodations and Title I of the ADA; and the ADA and Childcare. Miranda is also responsible for maintaining the Northwest ADA Centers Facebook page and Twitter account. Miranda has a Masters degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Western Washington University, and is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC). She recently interned at the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) in Lynnwood, Washington and over the past several years Miranda has become increasingly involved with the disability community through volunteer projects with the Epilepsy Foundation Northwest. Session Description: This 1.5 hour webinar will focus on the use of service animals by veterans, primarily in ADA Title II (State & Local Government) and Title III (Places of Public Accommodation) settings. The webinar will particularly look at the use of service animals by veterans who have non-apparent disabilities, such as PTSD. Service animal basics will briefly be covered, as well as a short discussion on service animals as a workplace accommodation for veterans with disabilities. Registration is FREE!
