to my mummy, on this day 8 years ago, we were preparing ourselves to go through what was to be a life altering surgery... a life changing experience. the journey just to get there was trying on all levels for daddy, erik and i, but we would never be able to imagine what it was like for you. you have lived each day with the knowledge of the inevitable due to this disease (to no fault of your own via a blood transfusion!) yet never gave in to letting it win or alter your optimistic perspective and love for life! and, its because of this youve surpassed all statistics equated with the disease and are thankfully here with us to be able to celebrate another year of your incredible existence. you are an amazing spirit mummy, an inspiration to us all and, the most exceptional example of what is true perseverance. you have said lately it was because of me you are still here, but this is so far from the truth... it is because of you and you only. i may have given you an opportunity with my liver, but it was you who cherished it and did everything possible to maintain its health so it could sustain you as long as humanly possible. our hope was the transplant would give you more time... time on this earth to enjoy your life and of course, selfishly, we wanted to still bask around your radiating spirit and soak in your presence as we all know your unconditional love has inevitably made us better human beings - what a gift you are to this world, mummy. i am beyond proud to be your daughter, to be part of our family... to be loved by you, daddy and erik is one the best gifts anyone could ask for, but to be able to love you purely is the most precious gift of all. i am honestly crying now writing this, not because im sad, but because i am filled with joy knowing i can feel this way and am able to love others this way... something i would not know if it was not for you and daddy. today, we are setting foot down a new road of hope... a road which is sure to have its ups and downs; but, wow, its a brand spankin newly paved road!!!! who knew we would be able to buy enough time for this possibility and what a weekend for it to occur! i love you my mummy with all of my heart... heres to many more years with you making your mark on this earth!!!!
