to which I replied: While Sheriffs, wardens and street cops get it, the citizens and most of the political aparatchiks dont seem to get it. Dont get that apathy and misguided rights advocacy is killing people by aggression and suicide and misadventure. Dont get that the system we allow by default is so much more costly than doing the right thing. Speaking of which, Even the most comprehensive m.h. reform in 50 years seems to attract many more Republicans than loving, caring, progressive Democrats. I am speaking , of course, of the Helping Families in Mental health Crisis Act or u.s. house resolution 3717 by Republican from Pennsylvania, Dr Tim Murphy (a psychologist who works in the V.A. with PTSD vets when he is not uncovering rampant fraud in the utilization of federal funds for so called treatment by agencies some of which dont even believe in the concept of mental illness, but which gladly line up at the tax funded feeding trough) At my last look, his bill had 42 cosigners.
