today is the feastday of st. augustine, my personal-choice patron saint! 33 long years!!! his mother monica, now st. monica, prayed that her son would change from his old ways - dissolute life they say - and embrace god and new life jesus. augustine not only embraced his christian conversion, but he eventually became one of the greatest thinkers of the church and was also commissioned to shepherd gods flock as a bishop and pastor. what a privilege it was also for me to study and get priestly formation at a seminary named after the great saint, sasma (st. augustine major seminary, tagaytay city) from 1981-1985, while doing academics with the svds (divine word seminary). wew! time flies when youre having fun... and i still do! it will be 30 years in december! (and thank you, mama mely for your prayers and putting something together for me... you know what im talking about!). your birthday this year, august 23rd, was one that will last a lifetime with me. sangko sa langit akong pasalamat!
