#tristatewx #paducah 6/25/14 Evening update - I will post the latest contest give-away in the comment section below. Good Wednesday evening one and all. I hope you enjoyed todays splendid weather conditions. Not bad for the last part of June. Dew points were lower and temperatures were lower. That combination made for a great day. All good things must come to an end. The warmer temperatures and higher dew points are already knocking back at the door. These will be on the rise through the weekend. Disturbances moving through the warm moist air will help trigger occasional showers and locally heavy thunderstorms. Are used to this routing? We should be. Typical for this time of the year. Severe weather is not anticipated. Storms could, however, produce 30-45 mph wind gusts, heavy downpours, lightning, and perhaps some pea size hail. That would be the most intense storms that form. Same as we have experienced over the past couple of weeks. We will start to think about a mini-heat wave next week. High temperatures could be the warmest of the season, thus far. Heat combined with more moisture in the air will make it feel very uncomfortable. Our Pre-Fourth of July heat wave appears to be on track. Still watching for a cold front later in the period. Perhaps towards the end of next week. Too far off for certainties. A cold front smacking into that warm air would obviously trigger some shower and thunderstorm activity. For those heading out to the county fairs over the coming days - have a rain jacket handy and perhaps an umbrella in the car. The precipitation should not be an all day or night event. Scattered in nature. There will be time periods where the rain and storms could last long enough to put a damper on some events. Hard to pinpoint time and location for each shower or thunderstorm. Again, you know how this goes during the summer months. Forecast details for far southern Illinois and western Kentucky... Wednesday night - Increasing clouds. A chance for A few thunderstorms late (after midnight). Low temperatures will be in the upper 60s. Southwest winds at 5-10 mph. Thursday - Mostly cloudy a chance for scattered scattered showers and thunderstorms. High temperatures will be in the middle to upper 80s. South winds at 5-15 mph. Thursday night - Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Warm. Low temperatures around 70 degrees. South winds at 5-10 mph. Friday - Partly cloudy. A good chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms. Warmer. High temperatures in the middle to upper 80s. South/southwest winds at 10-15 mph. Perhaps some higher gusts in the afternoon/evening. Friday night - Partly cloudy with a few scattered showers and thunderstorms possible. Overnight lows around 70. South winds at 10 mph. Saturday and Sunday will bring at least scattered showers and thunderstorms. Chances will probably be in the 20%-30% range. Highs will be in the upper 80s and lower 90s. Southerly winds at 10-15 mph.
