Jesus asserts the importance of human life over laws, rules and regulations. Enforcement of the law to the letter may kill the spirit of the law. A typical day in our life, we also are guilty of turning something beneficial into a burden. Jesus is strongly showing us that charity acted without delay pleases God over and above other practices, customs, rituals or sacrifices. In my present personal life situation, I can cite several instances which my mother values more norms and traditions than charity to which i greatly opposed. But, today, I am challenged to be at far in sharing charity to my 90 year old wheel chaired bound mother despite of her authoritarian character. JESUS IS CALLING ME TO BE MERCIFUL TO HER EVEN THOUGH IT KILLS ME TOLERATING HER WAYS. "i demand mercy and not mercy, says the Lord." a merciful friday to us all.
