The new board assumes their responsibilities at the close of the school year. 2. What do we do if we have vacancies on our board? Vacancies of the executive board are filled by election of the seated members of the executive board. In the event that the vacant position is the chair, the Vice Chair will call and chair the meeting. 3. How do we form new committees? The Executive Board may create standing and special committees as necessary. If your PTA has standing rules, you should review the standing rules to see if they need to be updated to . 4. How are committee chairs selected? The incoming president will appoint standing committee chairs, subject to the approval of the new officers. 5. Where do we get training? There are multiple ways to get training including Texas PTA’s Summer Leadership Seminar held in Houston July 18 – 20. Check with your Council PTA to see what additional opportunities they will be providing. And, all members of the Executive Board should take FOUNDATIONS: Leader Orientation by October 15 if they haven’t already done so. This short, introductory course can be taken on-line at txpta.org/intranet/members/notebook/. 6. When do we to the bank to change the signers on the account? Upon turning the books over the financial reconciliation committee, incoming and outgoing officers go to the bank and change the signature card. 7. How do we report our new Executive Board to Texas PTA? Complete the officer form located at formsite/txpta/form671768383/index.html, even if there are some vacancies. 8. How can we prepare for next school year? Begin by reviewing the quick start guides and resource guides. Connect with your Council PTA. Register for Summer Leadership Seminar. Review your predecessor’s procedure book and plans of work. 9. Can we begin recruiting members? Members can join year-round. Start with the officers and chairs. Members joining now are members until July 31, 2015. Remember to report all members to Texas PTA. 10. How can we get additional assistance? Texas PTA has a great support system for you.
