On behalf of Team New York Aquatics Water Polo, I am pleased to invite you to the “Big Apple Holedrive V – Forbidden Fruit” 2014 TNYA Masters Water Polo Invitational May 24 / 25, 2014 Columbia University, New York, NY This 8 team Masters Water Polo tournament will be hosted by TNYA Water Polo and sanctioned by USA Water Polo. All players must be members in good standing of USA Water Polo or Canada Water Polo. When: Saturday May 24 and Sunday May 25, 2012 (with an informal welcome event on Friday, May 23) Where: Dodge Fitness Center, Columbia University, New York, NY Cost: USD 600 per team (each team will play a minimum of 5 games) Registration is open to IGLA teams until April 1st, at which point an invitation will be extended to other teams if any of the eight spots are still open. Please register your team by emailing shaneewen@gmail and then submitting payment of USD 600 per team by one of the following options: 1) A check made out to Team New York Aquatics and mailed to: Shane Ewen 357 W 46th St Apartment 3 New York, NY 10036 2) Paypal to shaneewen@gmail with your team identified in the personal message.  The tournament will be played under FINA Masters rules with the following modifications: 1) The team roster must consist of at least 7 players, and may include up to 15 players. 2) The duration of the game shall be four periods, each of 6 minutes modified running time (game clock will stop after a goal or during a time out). 3) A tied result will be permitted in preliminary games, but in the finals a winner shall be determined through one period of sudden death, first team to score shall be the winner. This period shall begin 1 minute after regulation play has ended. 4) To establish the ranking of teams during the preliminary round, there will be 2 points awarded for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss. If 2 of more teams are tied in ranking, the ranking will be determined by the following criteria, in order: a. Thegamebetweenthetwoteams b. The goal spread (subject to a maximum of 5 for any game) c. Goalsfor(Higher) d. Goals against (Lower) e. Totalejections(Lower) 5) Any player ejected for brutality will not be allowed to play in their next scheduled game. Tournament Schedule The official schedule will be released once teams are finalized, but we recommend teams arrive in New York on Friday night as we’ll need to begin the tournament quite early on Saturday morning. We’ll do our best to accommodate the travel plans of out of town teams, but will have limited ability to delay your first game. You also don’t want to miss out on the chance to catch up with new and old friends at the informal Friday night welcome party. The final game will finish no later than 6pm on Sunday.
